Hello,everyone.

I have one question about "modern architecture".

You know,During The Second World,Bauhaus was persecuted by The Nazis. And "modernism architecture" spreade out into America by people escaped from Germany.
In Japan,"modern architecture" spread by Pupils of Le Corbusier(ex:Kunio Maekawa,Junzo Sakakura,Takamasa Yoshizaka...) and overseas students studied at Bauhaus.
So,How about South america,and Africa,etc...?

I'd like to know about it.
:?

I want to introduce mamori. We met him on www.fotolog.net with undertow. :))). as you can see in his "profil".

So mamori really glad to see you here. but I'm so sorry not to be able to say a lot about it.

You mean that the japanese architects that you are mentioning studied in France at Le Corbusier? Or just they were inspired by him?

All what I know is about central and eastern europe housing. The way that it started to be "exported" from france to the "communist" countries...and the way they exported it to Algeria. But I don't know if it has something to do with your question.

Thank you for introducing me,and your answer,Naya:D
I really glad to see you here too.

well,I'd like to make a correction of this topic...
This topic is "How did "modern architecture" spread out into the world?

I mentioned that japanese architects have worked in France at Le Corbusier.
And the japanese architects popularised "modern architecture" in Japan.

So Who popularised "modern architecture" in other countries(ex:Israel, egypt,Chile,Argentine,Viet Nam...)?

I think that a is very important thing.

I think very interesting Your mention about Algeria. :tourne:

Hello mamori and welcome to aROOTS

Don't forget that modern architecture is what we can say the international style enhanced by the CIAM. At this period of time you were modern or not.
I disagree with the idea that german architects brougt modern architecture to america because at first modern architecture was born in america with the Chicago school of architecture and architects like Burnham, Sullivan, flagg...and just after Frank Lloyd Wright
This american modernity arrived to Europe later with masters like Tony Garnier that influced Le Corbusier Peter Behrens, Wagner, Perret, Van de Velde.... What BAUHAUS brought to America is simply the BAUHAUS style, it means the introduction of art into architecture.

About other countries, it's probably the same influence that we, in europe we have with great architects like Shigeru Ban, Waro Kishi or Tadao Ando even though we never been over there, in Japan.

Hello AL,and Thank you for your comment

 :D

I didn't know that "american modernity arrived to Europe later with masters like Tony Garnier".

I think The Chicago school sowed the seeds of modernity, but it wasn't real modernity.Because they still had ornament at that time, even Sullivan...
So I think the modrnity germed in Europe with seeds of the Chicago school.

About other countries, I think it was influenced by "architectural magazine" published in each countries.

Now most of  Japanese architects is influenced by Rem Koolhaas.I think...

Thanks!

Tony Garnier, Adolf Loos...
It's after to have studied Sullivan's work in the USA that Adolf Loos will base his work on pure and geometrical form.
He published "Crime et ornement" after to have studied Sullivan's work. And Bauhaus will be inspired by his work but it's seems to me that him, doesn't like the Bauhaus...

Your pic is very interesting...and I'm really sorry for my english...

Hi,undertow.Thank you for your opinion :D
My english is also poor like President Bush..

After I have read your opinion,I read a book about Adolf Loos.
So It is described Loos traveled in America to watch the Chicago exposition.and Loos's uncle lived in Philadelphia..

And the other book is described about Tony Garnier that He was influenced by julien Guadet in Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

So many architcts was influenced by other architects.
I don't know about architectural history of South america..
It is a blank for me..
